Cardano officially joined the x402 SDK, the open HTTP payment standard originally driven by Coinbase and currently managed by the Linux Foundation.
The foundation announced it through its X account: any application or artificial intelligence agent can now make payments in ADA or Cardano Native Tokens (CNTs) directly over web requests, without the need for an account, API key, or payment page. Every service already present on x402 can enable it immediately.

The addition deepens a relationship that began in July 2026, when the foundation joined x402 as an associate member under the Linux Foundation, alongside companies such as Visa, Mastercard, Stripe, Google, AWS, and Coinbase. In early September, the network confirmed that its integration into x402 already existed as functional code and not merely as a written specification, with client, server, facilitator, and working examples merged directly into the protocol’s repository.
Additionally, the Cardano Foundation joined the Mastercard Crypto Partner Program within its Blockchains area, focused on cross-border payments, B2B transactions, and settlement. In parallel, the developers of Ouroboros Leios demonstrated a capacity of approximately 1,000 transactions per second, compared to the current 4.5 TxkB/s on mainnet.
