The initiative combines academic content with practical projects, founder support and ecosystem engagement. Cardano Academy materials will be integrated into UCLA blockchain education, including the course Blockchain Cryptocurrency Applications in Business and Finance, taught by Alex Nascimento, beginning in 2027. Students will work with Cardano-focused educational content, real-world applications and project-based learning.
Cardano Foundation Expands Blockchain Education At UCLA
The partnership begins with Cardano for the Real World: Blockchain, AI, and Building the Next Big Thing, an interactive masterclass scheduled for October 19. Designed by Cardano Academy and Nascimento, the program will introduce participants to enterprise Web3, decentralized AI agent infrastructure and practical blockchain applications.
Students will form teams to develop Web3 business architectures and deliver rapid pitches while exploring AI-assisted smart contract development. Participants who successfully complete the program will receive a Cardano Foundation-sponsored certification, adding a practical credential to the educational experience.
The agreement also introduces the Cardano Fellowships within the UCLA Accelerate Program. Five sponsored fellowships will be available to selected early-stage companies, providing funding, mentorship and opportunities to engage with the Cardano ecosystem.
