TL;DR:
- Markets and Bitcoin face a decisive week, awaiting the release of PPI and CPI inflation data in the U.S. on Thursday and Friday.
- August’s annual CPI is estimated at around 3.3%-3.4%, and a higher-than-expected reading could reinforce expectations of another Fed rate hike.
- Coinbase will migrate on September 9 the engine of its perpetual futures from Coinbase International Exchange to Deribit, a platform it acquired in August 2025.
Crypto markets and Bitcoin are navigating a week of high macroeconomic tension, awaiting two releases of inflation data in the United States that could define BTC’s behavior ahead of the FOMC meeting scheduled for September 15 and 16.
Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh adopted a clearly restrictive stance in late August, and last week’s strong employment report already pushed the probability of another rate hike above 50%.

Hawkish Scenario and Floor Testing
On Thursday, the Producer Price Index (PPI) for August will be released, with estimates pointing to a monthly increase of 0.4% and an acceleration of annual inflation from 4.7% to 5.4%. On Friday comes the most sensitive figure: the Consumer Price Index (CPI), projected at around 3.3%-3.4% annually, with the core reading expected to decline from the 2.5% recorded in July.
A higher-than-expected reading in either indicator could pressure Bitcoin and push Treasury bond yields higher, while more moderate data would provide the conditions to catalyze a recovery. Bitcoin stabilized its price around $80,000 over the weekend, but the accumulated hawkish scenario suggests that that floor could be put to the test.
Bitcoin and Deribit: Two Fronts to Watch This Week
Alongside the macroeconomic agenda, on September 9, Coinbase will migrate the trading engine of its perpetual futures from Coinbase International Exchange to Deribit, a platform the company acquired in August 2025.
This change directly affects the trading infrastructure available on the Coinbase app and website. In addition, on September 11, Blockstream will publish the source code associated with the security fixes for Core Lightning 26.06.7.
On the corporate front, Bitcoin miner Canaan will report its results on Monday before market open, with an estimated loss of $0.14 per share, while GameStop will do so after the close of trading on the same day.
