TL;DR

  • Bitcoin rebounded from roughly $63,750 to above $66,000, reaching a monthly high as total crypto capitalization gained about $70 billion in one day.
  • Reports of progress on a crucial U.S. Clarity Act ethics provision and a rebound in Asian semiconductor stocks helped strengthen broader risk appetite.
  • Altcoins rallied widely, but derivatives showed mixed signals: rising open interest and call demand accompanied persistent hedging, elevated put pricing, and stable implied volatility.

Bitcoin recovered above $66,000 after an early-week dip, reaching its highest level in more than a month as the broader crypto market abruptly turned green. The asset rebounded from Monday’s low near $63,750, crossed $65,500, and climbed to roughly $66,300. The perplexing shift from hesitation to broad optimism unfolded with remarkable speed, lifting Bitcoin’s market capitalization to about $1.33 trillion and its dominance to 57.2%. Total crypto capitalization added approximately $70 billion in one day, returning to $2.32 trillion for the first time in a month after weeks of repeatedly failed attempts to regain momentum.

Policy Progress Meets Broad Market Momentum

Reports that President Donald Trump had accepted a crucial ethics provision for the U.S. Clarity Act helped underpin the rally. The proposed legislation seeks clearer distinctions between digital commodities and securities, while the ethics language had remained a central obstacle in the Senate. A political development without finalized legislation suddenly became a powerful market catalyst, reinforcing gains already supported by a rebound in Asian semiconductor stocks. Traders are now watching $68,000, near the 61.8% Fibonacci retracement of the May-to-June selloff, as the next test of whether Bitcoin’s recovery can become durable over the coming sessions.

Altcoins participated almost universally. Ethereum approached $1,950, BNB neared $580, and XRP and HYPE gained about 4%. Dogecoin, Zcash, and Stellar posted similar advances, while Cardano jumped more than 8% to a local high near $0.175. ONDO rose over 14% toward $0.40, with BCH, UNI, AAVE, DOT, and WLD also recording strong daily gains. The rally’s breadth made the rebound look more convincing than a Bitcoin-only move, and the DeFi Select Index surged 9%, showing that capital was rotating into several riskier corners of the market simultaneously rather than concentrating solely in the largest assets.

Derivatives positioning offered encouragement, but also an uncomfortable warning. Bitcoin futures open interest increased from below 750,000 BTC to 770,000 BTC, while its adjusted cumulative volume delta indicated that buyers were leading through market orders. Open interest also rose in ADA, XLM, LINK, and Dogecoin, although Dogecoin’s negative volume delta pointed to bearish pressure. Bullish participation expanded even as demand for protection refused to disappear. Put options remained more expensive than calls across maturities, implied volatility stopped falling, and traders continued hedging despite call-heavy activity in both Bitcoin and ether options during the latest advance.
