Bitcoin Core 32.0 entered its final testing phase; its official release is scheduled for October 10. The first release candidate was tagged on that date, marking the start of the validation cycle before developers publish the stable version.

The update introduces changes to transaction fee estimation: alongside the current method, which analyzes previous blocks, a second estimator is added that evaluates transactions awaiting confirmation.

The software compares both values and can recommend the lower fee when network conditions allow, enabling estimates to drop faster once congestion subsides.

On the performance side, nodes will be able to fetch transaction data from their databases using multiple processing threads simultaneously while validating blocks. By default eight threads will be used, reducing wait times during synchronization.

Bitcoin Core developers also fixed a vulnerability present since version 24.0 on non-Windows systems: an authenticated user could assign a wallet a specially crafted name to execute commands on the host system if the walletnotify function was enabled. Bitcoin Core version 32 treats wallet names as literal text.

Additionally, a memory exhaustion bug was detected and resolved in the new integrated web server, where 16 unauthenticated REST connections drove a 46 MB test node to nearly 3 GB in approximately one minute.
