A blog post on the official medium of Binance US shared the news with the community that it will start accepting accounts registration on September 18. According to the firm, in the first phase, it will support six cryptocurrencies which are BTC, ETH, XRP, BCH, LTC, and USDT. The company has plans to list 30 crypto assets including its native BNB.
The blog post by Binance US reads:
“Back to school and back to the basics! Binance.US will open account registration and begin accepting deposits of BTC, ETH, XRP, BCH, LTC, and USDT on Wednesday, September 18, 2019, at 8 am ET. This kicks off our first phase as we gradually roll out access to our digital asset marketplace across America.”
According to the firm, in the first phase, users will be able to sign up for a Binance US account and select the tier of verification required to achieve your desired withdrawal limits. After verification, they will be able to make deposits in selected assets. Once registration is done, the company will provide an update about trading and trading pair.
Earlier this month, Binance US also released its guidelines and procedures for user verification which stated that the exchange would require its users to go through a KYC process by uploading a valid government ID and their social security numbers.
Binance has not yet revealed in which state they are going to start its operation but it is confirm that Binance US won’t initially serve New York State residents. Binance US has also adopted a Digital Asset Risk Assessment Framework to provide transparency in its listing standards, and to ensure compliance with applicable legal requirements.
On June 14, 2019, Global cryptocurrency exchange Binance announced its partnership with BAM Trading Services Inc. to begin preparation to launch trading services for users in the United States as Changpeng Zhao, CEO of Binance, said at that time:
“We are excited to finally launch Binance.US and bring the security, speed, and liquidity of Binance.com to North America. Binance.US will be led by our local partner BAM and will serve the U.S. market in full regulatory compliance.”
In July 2019, the firm hired Catherine Coley, former head of XRP institutional liquidity at Ripple, as CEO.
