TL;DR
- Binance shortened the funding rate settlement frequency from eight to two hours for selected perpetual contracts.
- It will also launch the EPTUSDT contract on April 21, with leverage of up to 20x and funding rates settled every four hours.
- Both measures reflect a comprehensive strategy to adjust risk parameters and reinforce operational stability in its derivatives markets.
Binance implemented a series of adjustments this week on its derivatives platform aimed at reinforcing control over volatility and improving the efficiency of its settlement system. The initiative includes both the modification of existing contracts and the introduction of new instruments under defined risk parameters.
Binance Seeks More Control and Efficiency
Starting April 18, Binance shortened the funding rate settlement frequency from eight to two hours for some USDT-margined perpetual contracts. This measure aims to accelerate the response to sharp market movements and reinforce operational stability during periods of high volatility. Among the contracts potentially affected by this change are pairs like AERGOUSDT, ORCAUSDT, TROYUSDT, and BANUSDT, although the exchange did not publicly confirm all the assets involved.
Although technical, the change is part of the platform’s strategy to optimize the funding rate system, which is crucial in the dynamic between long and short positions in derivatives markets.
Launch of the EPTUSDT Perpetual Contract
In line with this control and planned expansion logic, Binance also announced the launch of the EPTUSDT contract, based on the Balance (EPT) token, a Web3 + AI protocol focused on the social and gaming sectors. The new derivative will be available from April 21 with a funding rate settlement every four hours, leverage of up to 20x, and a funding limit of ±2%.
As part of the launch, users who have traded in the Alpha zone between April 11 and April 18 will receive an airdrop of 3,500 EPT tokens, automatically distributed to their accounts before the trading begins.
A Comprehensive Risk Control Strategy
Both actions – reducing funding intervals and incorporating new contracts with strict parameters – demonstrate Binance’s versatility in the face of the market’s changing dynamics. The platform is betting on more granular tools and faster responses, aligning with the trends of flexible risk management in the crypto ecosystem.
