The Berachain Foundation activated an emergency hard fork to fix vulnerabilities linked to the Balancer V2 hack that impacted BEX, its decentralized exchange. The network was temporarily halted as validators update their nodes and verify security before resuming operations.

The operator of an MEV bot identified as the holder of the stolen funds confirmed he will return the assets once the network is restored, after declaring himself a white-hat hacker.

The team plans to release a technical report detailing new security measures and an updated roadmap. According to the foundation, restoring community trust remains its top priority.

In February, Berachain had surpassed Base and Arbitrum with $3.24 billion in total value locked, a figure that dropped to $393 million after the incident, according to DeFiLlama.
