Algorand moves toward AlgoKit 4.0 with new Utils Beta release
Table of Contents

The development ecosystem of Algorand is advancing toward its next generation of tools. Gabriel Kuettel and Camilo Molano announced the beta launch of AlgoKit Utils for TypeScript and Python, the first step toward AlgoKit 4.0. This update includes a deep revision of the core libraries that developers use daily to build applications on the network.

Among the most significant changes is the introduction of a single unified `AlgorandClient`, which consolidates into one entry point the operations for transactions, accounts, assets, applications, and state, using the same structure across both languages.

The account model abandons the use of private keys in application code and adopts a signer-based scheme, designed to integrate with cloud KMS systems, HSM, and other secure key stores. In addition, hierarchical deterministic HD wallets are natively incorporated into the standard toolset, compatible with BIP-44 and Algorand’s ARC-52 standard.

The update also establishes ARC-56 as the default application specification format, enabling automatic conversion for existing ARC-32 specifications, and removing the direct dependency on algosdk.
