TL;DR:

  • The official Shiba Inu team endorsed a community post on X, reigniting the discussion around a $1 valuation.
  • The shared infographic recorded SHIB at $0.000012, a figure that doubles its actual current market price.
  • With a reported circulating supply of 589 trillion tokens, reaching $1 would require a market capitalization of $589 trillion.

The debate over SHIB reaching $1 resurfaced across cryptocurrency markets on November 3 following a public endorsement by the official Shiba Inu project account on X.

The official Shiba Inu account shared and praised as “great work” an analysis posted by a member of its community. The post described the one-dollar target per token as a mathematically improbable, though not impossible, scenario. However, the publication included visual material with price records that do not reflect current market conditions.

In the shared infographic, the price assigned to Shiba Inu stood at $0.000012, placing it 86% below its all-time high. According to market price records, the asset has not traded at that level over the past year. Market data indicates that the actual trading price remains approximately 95% below the peak recorded in October 2021.

The numerical discrepancies in the graphic were not limited to Shiba Inu. The analysis placed Dogecoin (DOGE) at $0.20, while its actual market price sits below $0.10. In turn, the Bonk (BONK) token was listed on the chart at $0.000021, a figure higher than the levels observed following its delisting from the Upbit exchange.

Market Cap Metrics and Circulating Supply

The original analysis shared by the team explained that the presence of multiple zeros after the decimal point in a micro-priced asset does not guarantee upward momentum. The document emphasized that market capitalization, circulating volume, liquidity, and real demand are the decisive variables in determining the price of these crypto assets.

Shiba Inu’s circulating supply remains at approximately 589 trillion tokens. Using the standard mathematical calculation for market capitalization—unit price multiplied by circulating supply—a valuation of $1 per unit would require a total market capitalization of $589 trillion.

An industry source reported that this theoretical figure would surpass Bitcoin’s total valuation hundreds of times over and exceed the combined annual Global Gross Domestic Product. For the price to rise from its current sub-cent levels to the one-dollar mark, the asset would need to surge by 200,000 times its current value.

Historical records show that SHIB reached its all-time high of $0.000088 in October 2021. Since then, supply reduction via systematic token burning has been actively promoted by community segments. However, the volume burned to date has not significantly impacted the macroeconomic scale of the overall supply to support targets of that magnitude.

In the weeks prior to this publication, the project’s leadership had maintained a cautious stance. In late October, the team issued a warning to traders following a market liquidation wave valued at $20 million.

As part of its technical strategy aimed at capturing external volume and liquidity, the project completed the deployment of the SHIB token on the Solana blockchain in October. This integration aims to expand the coin’s reach beyond the Ethereum network and its Layer-2 solution, Shibarium.

Spot market price action keeps SHIB trading within the micro-cent range, awaiting the upcoming weekly close and the broader impact of its cross-chain integrations.
