Metaplanet confirmed to the Tokyo Stock Exchange the early redemption of its Series 20 ordinary bonds held by EVO FUND, worth ¥8,000 million (approximately $50.7 million). By settling this interest-free debt using available cash ahead of its April 2027 maturity, the firm unlocked an equivalent sum raised through share acquisition rights originally earmarked for debt redemption, redirecting it entirely toward its Bitcoin purchase program. With this adjustment, the allocation dedicated to acquiring the cryptocurrency increases from ¥25,422 million to ¥33,422 million.
This move consolidates the firm’s treasury and deleveraging strategy, which progresses in parallel with its share repurchase program. During the second half of October, the company executed repurchases totaling over ¥25,269 million (96.44 million shares), already reaching 42% of the ¥60,000 million ceiling authorized by its board of directors. The reallocation enables Metaplanet to expand its BTC purchasing power without tapping into proceeds from its recent convertible bond offering, maintaining an active stance amid digital market fluctuations.
Over the coming weeks, the company is expected to keep these funds readily deployable for phased Bitcoin acquisitions, while market attention shifts to the MSCI index review decision scheduled for November 11—a key event that will determine the stock’s inclusion in global equity benchmarks.
