Interpol recovered more than $105 million and dismantled thousands of cybercrime networks across Africa during Operation Serengeti III, which ran from June 29 to August 31. The operation involved law enforcement agencies from 21 countries and resulted in 1,462 arrests.

According to Interpol, authorities disrupted 10,909 malicious networks and identified 65,929 victims. Investigators linked the criminal activities to losses exceeding $385 million, involving online scams, ransomware, extortion, and other forms of cyber fraud.

In Angola, authorities shut down two illegal cryptocurrency mining facilities, arrested nine people, and seized more than 2,000 mining devices and six illegally installed electrical transformer stations. The confiscated electrical equipment alone was valued at more than $1 million.

In Nigeria, Interpol investigators traced more than $2.4 million in proceeds from an alleged international investment scam, with much of the money reportedly laundered through cryptocurrency transactions.

Meanwhile, Uganda dismantled two organizations involved in investment and pension scams targeting victims in Asia. Authorities arrested 365 foreign nationals linked to operations that used fake trading platforms and call centers.

Interpol reported that several investigations remain ongoing as authorities work to identify additional suspects and trace illicit funds. Companies including Kaspersky, Group-IB, Uppsala Security, and Meta assisted law enforcement agencies.
