TL;DR

  • Bitcoin trades at $84,589, gaining 2.21% over the past 24 hours and returning above the $84,500 level.
  • Strategy executive chairman Michael Saylor posts a bullish message on X, reinforcing optimism about Bitcoin’s market direction.
  • Strategy continues expanding its Bitcoin position while repurchasing preferred shares, highlighting how corporate financing decisions influence its long-term accumulation strategy.

Bitcoin has climbed back above $84,500 as renewed buying activity brings fresh attention to the market’s short-term momentum. The recovery coincides with a bullish message from Michael Saylor, executive chairman of Strategy, adding another point of interest for investors tracking institutional demand and Bitcoin’s next potential move.

Saylor Signals Bullish Momentum

Bitcoin trades at $84,589, up 2.21% in the last 24 hours, according to the latest price figures provided. The move places BTC above the $84,500 threshold, a level traders are watching as they assess whether the latest recovery can develop into a more sustained upward trend.

Saylor reinforced the optimistic mood on October 21 with a post on X featuring the phrase “The bull market is calling.” The accompanying video depicts a suited bull approaching him while he sleeps. Although the message signals confidence in Bitcoin’s prospects, Saylor did not provide a specific price target or timeline.

Market participants are still assessing the strength of the breakout. Trader Altcoin Sherpa questioned on X whether Bitcoin’s move above a horizontal resistance level would hold, reflecting the distinction between a short-term price advance and a confirmed change in market structure.

For bullish investors, maintaining support above recently recovered levels could strengthen the case for further gains. However, traders will also monitor trading volume, liquidity and broader financial conditions before treating the move as evidence of a sustained rally.

Strategy Balances Bitcoin Accumulation With Preferred Share Buybacks

Strategy’s corporate activity offers another perspective on institutional exposure to Bitcoin. In an October 19 regulatory filing, the company reported purchasing 267 BTC for approximately $22.1 million between October 12 and October 18, at an average price of $82,900 per coin, including fees and expenses.

The filing placed its total holdings at 848,517 BTC, acquired for approximately $64.02 billion. Common-share sales provided $22 million for the latest purchases, while the remaining $100,000 came from cash.

During the same reporting period, Strategy spent $193.1 million repurchasing its STRC preferred shares, roughly 8.7 times the amount allocated to new Bitcoin purchases. The board also increased its authorization for digital credit securities repurchases from $2 billion to $3 billion.
