Americans Want Banks To Offer Crypto Services
Crypto services are becoming a factor in how Americans evaluate financial institutions, according to the National Cryptocurrency Association’s (NCA) 2026 Crypto at the Bank report, released in partnership with The Harris Poll. The findings indicate that millions of consumers want traditional banks to provide easier access to digital assets.
Based on responses from more than 2,000 U.S. adults, the survey found that 42% would be more likely to use a bank offering cryptocurrency services. Additionally, 35% said they would be more inclined to open an account with such an institution, while 36% would use it for a larger share of their financial needs.
The results suggest that crypto adoption can extend beyond specialist exchanges and dedicated wallets. Banks could offer customers another way to access digital assets through familiar financial relationships, potentially making cryptocurrency more accessible to people who prefer established institutions.
However, communication remains a significant obstacle. Approximately 168 million Americans, or 64% of consumers, said their bank, credit union, or financial advisor had never discussed cryptocurrency with them. Another 43% did not know whether their bank already offered crypto-related services.

Crypto Products Attract Interest Across Demographics
The survey found demand for several types of digital asset exposure. Around 22% of respondents wanted access to cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds (ETFs) or other investment funds, while another 22% expressed interest in buying and holding crypto directly. Tokenized stocks, bonds, and real estate attracted interest from 19%.
Younger adults and parents showed particularly strong demand. Among parents with children under 18, 62% said they would be more likely to open an account with a crypto-supporting bank or use it for more financial services. That figure reached 58% among adults aged 35 to 44 and 54% among those aged 18 to 34.
These findings point to opportunities for banks to serve customers seeking diversified investment options and access to blockchain-based financial products.
