TL;DR
- ESMA added nine crypto-asset service providers to its MiCA register, bringing the total to 375 authorized entities.
- BingX and YouHodler are among the new additions, alongside Openbank Deutschland, a subsidiary of Spanish banking group Santander.
- The register of non-compliant crypto-asset service providers increased to 178 entries, while the e-money token register remained unchanged.
The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) expanded its register of crypto-asset service providers authorized under MiCA to 375 unique entities, adding nine new operators in its latest update.
The new additions include BingX and YouHodler, two platforms that announced their respective regulatory authorizations last week.
The register lists MEGE zweite, BingX’s Austrian entity, which received authorization to provide regulated services across the European Economic Area.
Daniel Lai, CEO of BingX EU, explained that the license would allow the company to prepare the launch of its services under a clearly defined regulatory framework.
Meanwhile, YouHodler’s Italian subsidiary was added to the register, with authorization to provide crypto-asset custody, exchange services, order execution, and transfers.
ESMA Adds Banks and Investment Platforms
ESMA’s register also includes Prakma Markets, a Spanish company associated with Goin, an app offering savings and investment services.
Three banking institutions were added in Germany: Openbank Deutschland, a subsidiary of Santander Group, and cooperative lenders VR-Bank Alb-Blau-Donau and VR Bank im südlichen Franken.
These additions allow the institutions to provide the crypto-asset services covered by their respective authorizations under the MiCA regulation.
The European regulation establishes common requirements for crypto-asset service providers, including operational controls, disclosure obligations, and customer protection measures.
Changes to Provider and Token Registers
ESMA’s latest update includes one notable development: Denmark’s Penning Financial Services no longer appears in the register, despite having been listed in ESMA’s updates since July 3.
A spokesperson for the company stated that its MiCA authorization remains valid and that it had received no communication from Denmark’s financial regulator regarding any changes.
Neither ESMA nor Denmark’s financial supervisory authority had explained the company’s absence.
As for the token registers, the e-money token (EMT) register remained at 50 entries representing 25 unique entities. The asset-referenced token (ART) register also remained empty.
Finally, the register of non-compliant crypto-asset service providers increased by five entries to 178.
