TL;DR

  • Bitcoin rebounded above $82,000 Monday after dipping near $80,500 on Sunday, while U.S. equity futures and Asian stocks also strengthened as broader risk sentiment improved.
  • DeFi and selected altcoins outperformed, with Arbitrum, Pump.fun and Uniswap among early gainers while Bitcoin’s advance remained comparatively modest.
  • Crypto futures volume jumped 51% to $146 billion, but open interest rose only 1.25%, suggesting heavier trading activity without an equally large expansion in overall positioning.

Bitcoin extended its rebound above $82,000 on Monday as U.S. equity futures and Asian stocks strengthened after a difficult week for risk assets. In the initial snapshot, BTC traded around $82,500, up roughly 0.5% since midnight UTC after recovering from Sunday’s dip near $80,700. A later CoinMarketCap reading placed Bitcoin around $82,891, up 1.00% over 24 hours. For investors following Bitcoin, the move restored short-term momentum while keeping BTC below pre-selloff levels, after last week’s inflation-driven weakness.

Bitcoin Rebound Coincides With Improving Risk Sentiment

Nasdaq 100 futures rose more than 1% as technology shares attempted to recover from a 4.5% weekly decline, while Asian markets advanced after China reported third-quarter GDP growth of 4.5%, above expectations. Oil prices also eased. Bitcoin’s rebound occurred alongside those improving risk-market conditions, but the data does not establish that equities alone caused the move. The recovery therefore coincided with stronger risk sentiment rather than proving a single stock-market catalyst, as markets reopened on Monday.

Altcoins participated more strongly in parts of the market. One early snapshot showed Ether gaining 0.75% near $2,430, while Arbitrum rose 6.7%, Pump.fun added 7.6% and Uniswap advanced 3.2%. A separate morning snapshot later showed Arbitrum up about 9% and Raydium gaining 7%, illustrating how quickly intraday percentages shifted. The pattern extends recent altcoin outperformance, although not every token advanced. DeFi and selected higher-beta assets led the rebound, while Bitcoin’s own gain remained much smaller by comparison.

Derivatives data showed more trading activity without an equally large increase in positioning. Twenty-four-hour crypto futures volume jumped 51% to $146 billion, while open interest increased only 1.25% to $141 billion and liquidations totaled $329 million. Open interest in BTC, ETH, SOL and XRP grew faster than their spot prices, while perpetual funding remained positive. The combination points to fresh leveraged participation, but the modest rise in overall open interest leaves the short-term recovery vulnerable.

Bitcoin briefly touched $83,000 earlier Monday, its first return to that level since the inflation-driven decline, after falling near $80,500 on Sunday. The latest CoinMarketCap reading remained close to that threshold rather than confirming a sustained breakout above it. Recent Bitcoin ETF outflows and the market’s sensitivity to inflation continue to provide context. Bitcoin has reclaimed the $82,000 area, but holding above it and converting $83,000 into support would provide stronger confirmation than Monday’s rebound.
