Circle plans to expand into about 40 emerging and developing markets as global demand for stablecoins accelerates, CEO Jeremy Allaire said on October 16. The company is targeting regions including Southeast Asia, Latin America, Africa and the Middle East, where Circle sees blockchain adoption moving from early use toward mainstream scale.
The expansion is backed by Circle’s $400 million acquisition of Tazapay and a $100 million strategic investment from Binance. Circle currently holds roughly 25% of the global stablecoin market, while USDC circulation rose 19% year over year to $73.3 billion in the second quarter. Growing regulatory clarity and demand for cross-border digital payments are supporting the company’s international push.
Allaire also pointed to increasing stablecoin use by financial institutions and AI agents, while warning that expanding digital infrastructure brings new security risks. The next phase will be Circle’s entry into the targeted markets and broader adoption of USDC-based payment infrastructure, as banks and payment companies continue integrating stablecoins beyond pilot programs.
