Cardano Card, the Visa card linked to the ADA ecosystem, will cease operations on October 31, 2026, according to an announcement from its official X account. The service allows users to make payments with more than 685 cryptocurrencies, including ADA, Bitcoin, Ethereum, and XRP.
The card will continue operating normally until the shutdown date. The decision follows a change in the business model of Wirex, the service provider, which will discontinue its custodial infrastructure and transition to a non-custodial model. As a result, its partnership with Cardano Card will end on October 31.

The program was launched in November 2025 through a partnership between Emurgo and Wirex. The card was integrated into the Wirex app, which has more than six million users across 130 countries, and allows users to spend cryptocurrencies wherever Visa is accepted.
In addition to payments, the card provides access to DeFi services, including loans and yield-generating products.
The project team said it will share more information about the program’s future soon and asked affected users to contact its representatives directly.
For now, it has not been confirmed whether Cardano Card will introduce a replacement card, partner with another provider, or offer an alternative way to continue making cryptocurrency payments after the shutdown.
