Porsche announced the closure of its Web3 project and the Pioneers Circle community, less than four years after launching its non-fungible token (NFT) collection based on the 911 model.

The German automaker confirmed the decision through a post on X, where it noted that the project had evolved beyond its initial technological focus to incorporate community events and both online and in-person activities.

Despite the closure, the 911 model NFTs will remain in the hands of their holders and will continue to exist on the blockchain. The community’s Discord server will switch to read-only mode and the project’s official X account will no longer be updated.

The collection had debuted in January 2023 with a planned offering of 7,500 tokens, but Porsche halted the minting process following user complaints about pricing and lack of utility, which reduced the final supply to just 2,363 units.

According to data from OpenSea, the all-time trading volume reached approximately $20 million, although over the past month it barely registered around $2,900. In 2022, Lutz Meschke, then Vice President of Porsche, had stated that the brand’s commitment was “for the long term”.
