TL;DR

  • American Bitcoin enters its second year on Nasdaq with 8,300 BTC and nearly 90,000 mining machines.
  • Eric Trump says the company is focused on making the U.S. a leader in the Bitcoin economy.
  • Strong mining margins and continued reserve growth support its long-term strategy, despite significant pressure on ABTC shares and a 1-for-15 reverse stock split completed in July.

American Bitcoin is entering its second year as a Nasdaq-listed company with a larger Bitcoin reserve, while co-founder Eric Trump is renewing his call for the United States to lead the global Bitcoin economy.

In a Sept. 3 post on X, Trump said American Bitcoin now holds 8,300 BTC and operates nearly 90,000 mining machines. He also pointed to record quarterly production and gross margins near 50%, highlighting a model built around accumulating Bitcoin through production.

American Bitcoin Builds A Larger Strategic Reserve

The latest reserve figure represents an increase from the roughly 8,000 BTC reported by the company at the end of June. American Bitcoin had already surpassed 7,000 BTC in the first quarter, when it reported 817 BTC of production and more than 1,600 BTC added to its strategic reserve.

The company describes Bitcoin accumulation as its central objective, combining mining efficiency with reserve expansion.

That strategy gives American Bitcoin a distinct position among corporate treasury vehicles. Instead of purchasing every coin at market prices, the company seeks to use mining infrastructure and access to power to build its reserve at operating costs below Bitcoin’s market value.

Mining Economics Support The U.S. Bitcoin Push

American Bitcoin’s operating figures provide a counterpoint to BTC price volatility. It reported a 52% mining gross margin in the first quarter and margins near 49% or higher in the second quarter.

Mining remains highly competitive after the 2024 halving reduced the block subsidy. Efficient hardware, power costs and fleet utilization therefore remain critical to profitability. American Bitcoin has expanded its infrastructure while working with Hut 8, which provides access to large-scale mining facilities and operational resources.

The company’s stock performance tells a different story. American Bitcoin completed a 1-for-15 reverse stock split in July after Nasdaq listing requirements came under pressure. The adjustment changed the share count but not shareholders’ proportional ownership.

Eric Trump’s latest comments frame the company’s Bitcoin accumulation strategy around a long-term infrastructure thesis rather than short-term equity performance. If American Bitcoin continues increasing its reserve while maintaining strong mining margins, it could strengthen its position among publicly traded Bitcoin treasury companies and add another U.S.-based player to the race for institutional Bitcoin exposure.
