Dubai’s Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA) and Securitize, the tokenization platform backed by BlackRock, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote the development of digital asset infrastructure in the United Arab Emirates.
The collaboration framework aims to support regulated tokenization initiatives, strengthen institutional participation and consolidate Dubai’s digital asset ecosystem. According to VARA’s spokesperson, the central objective of the MoU is to combine the authority’s regulatory perspective with Securitize’s expertise in institutional tokenization, in order to identify areas where collaboration can underpin the development of reliable and regulated tokenized markets in the region.
Securitize: Financial Infrastructure for Tokenization
Carlos Domingo, co-founder and CEO of Securitize, highlighted that Dubai has positioned itself as one of the most forward-thinking jurisdictions in the world when it comes to digital asset innovation. He underscored the importance of working together with regulators as tokenization transitions from theory to conventional financial infrastructure. Currently, Securitize leads the global tokenization market with $4.9 billion in tokenized assets under management, followed by Ondo Finance with $3.5 billion.
VARA’s spokesperson clarified that the MoU does not include specific projects announced at this stage, but rather establishes the foundation to support relevant tokenization initiatives in Dubai as concrete collaboration opportunities arise.
