TL;DR
- HYPE reached a new all-time high above $85, with the token trading at $86.13 after gaining 6.7% in 24 hours.
- Rising derivatives activity is supporting the breakout, while Hyperliquid’s fee-driven token purchases provide an additional demand factor.
- The move comes alongside a broader altcoin rally, with Solana, Monero, XRP and Chainlink posting strong gains during the same session.
HYPE climbed to a new all-time high above $85 as buyers pushed the token higher alongside a broad recovery across the altcoin market. At the latest reading, HYPE trades at $86.13, marking a 6.7% gain over the past 24 hours.
HYPE Extends Its Breakout Above $85
The latest advance builds on a breakout that developed over several sessions. HYPE previously reached about $83.60 on August 23 before pulling back toward the zone that had capped earlier attempts. Buyers defended the $77-$78 area, allowing the token to regain momentum and challenge its previous record.
Breaking above $83.60 removed the most visible resistance on the chart and opened a new price range for HYPE. With no established historical ceiling above the previous high, traders are now watching whether the token can maintain prices above the breakout area during its next pullback.
Derivatives activity has also expanded. Open interest rose from roughly $3.5 billion during the previous record attempt to around $3.87 billion, representing an increase of about 10%. The expansion indicates that additional leveraged positions entered the market as HYPE moved toward its new high.

Fresh Capital Meets A Broader Altcoin Rally
Futures turnover reached roughly 17 times reported spot volume, showing how heavily derivatives contributed to the latest move. Liquidations remained comparatively contained at around $5.55 million, equivalent to only about 0.14% of open interest.
That combination suggests the advance was not driven exclusively by a large liquidation cascade. New positions and broader market demand played a significant role, although elevated leverage could amplify volatility if HYPE reverses sharply.
Hyperliquid’s operating model provides another source of interest around the token. Trading fees contribute to the Assistance Fund, which uses proceeds to purchase HYPE on the open market. The acquired tokens are treated as burned, reducing the circulating supply.
The rally is also occurring alongside strong performance from other major altcoins. Solana gained 11.49% over 24 hours, while Monero rose 7.38%. XRP and Chainlink advanced more than 6%, and Dogecoin added 5.31%. Ethereum, Zcash and BNB also posted gains above 2%.
