TL;DR

  • Bitcoin rebounded from $75,500 to around $77,500 after reaching nearly $80,000 on Friday, leaving BTC 21% higher than a week earlier.
  • Zcash approached $900, Ethereum moved above $2,450, XRP neared $1.50 and BNB touched $700 as momentum broadened beyond Bitcoin.
  • Total crypto market capitalization rose about $30 billion to $2.680 trillion, although ENA, PUMP and XMR declined, showing the recovery remained uneven across major and mid-cap assets.

Bitcoin recovered sharply toward $80,000 after a weekend correction dragged the asset to $75,500, extending a volatile run that began with last week’s breakout above $65,000. BTC initially surged to $70,000, suffered a quick rejection, then climbed to $72,000 before reaching almost $80,000 on Friday for the first time in more than three months. The remarkable part is how quickly buyers returned after a $4,500 pullback threatened to interrupt the rally. Bitcoin later rebounded toward $78,000 and was trading around $77,500, up more than 21% from the same time last Monday.

The recovery leaves Bitcoin’s market capitalization near $1.555 trillion, while its dominance over altcoins has slipped slightly to just below 58%. That combination suggests the broader market is participating even as BTC remains the central driver of the recent advance. Bitcoin’s rebound is strong, but capital is clearly not staying concentrated in the largest cryptocurrency alone. After weeks of stagnant trading, the move from below $65,000 to nearly $80,000 has reshaped short-term momentum, though the weekend correction showed that gains can still unwind quickly when traders begin taking profits or building bearish positions.

Altcoins join the rebound as Zcash steals attention

The dramatic move outside Bitcoin came from Zcash. ZEC approached $900 on Sunday, reaching its highest level in nearly a decade, before settling above $830. Ethereum also advanced 2% to move beyond $2,450, XRP returned close to $1.50, and BNB touched $700 while gaining one place in the market-cap rankings. The breadth of these gains turns Bitcoin’s recovery into a wider market event rather than an isolated BTC bounce. Mid-cap tokens including CC, TAO, SKY and CRO also posted notable advances, while AAVE, MNT and MORPHO rose by double digits during the session.

PENGU returned to the top 100 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization after gaining 20% in a day, adding to the sense that speculative appetite has broadened. Still, not every asset benefited: ENA, PUMP and XMR were among the largest decliners, with ENA falling more than 8%. The market is recovering unevenly, with powerful rallies sitting beside sharp pockets of weakness. Total crypto market capitalization added roughly $30 billion in a day to reach about $2.680 trillion. For Bitcoin, holding the upper-$70,000 range after the brief $75,500 slide now becomes the clearest test of whether the latest breakout can mature into a more durable advance.
