Ether.fi launched the “Summer” update of its non-custodial neobank, offering in a single application trading of stocks and tokenized metals, loans against full portfolios through Aave, global fiat payments and programmatic buybacks of its ETHFI token.
The update allows users to acquire tokenized stocks and commodities through xStocks alongside cryptocurrencies, custody them in vaults with social recovery and borrow against their full portfolio at DeFi rates currently near 4%, using those funds on the Cash card or in transfers.

Ether.fi: Less Crypto, More Reach
In the announcement, the protocol highlighted that its new version is “less crypto-oriented” and aims to attract “a much broader audience“. Mike Silagadze, CEO of ether.fi, stated that the goal is to “replace the traditional bank for the majority of users and give them tools that were previously only available to institutions and high-net-worth individuals”.
The product responds to the wave of similar launches by the sector’s leading platforms. Binance, Coinbase, Kraken and OKX have begun incorporating tokenized stocks and banking features, in a race to become financial superapps.
Ether.fi already had a presence in consumer-oriented payments as one of the largest native crypto ecosystem payment card providers, with around 500,000 users and approximately 150,000 active cards, according to data shared by Silagadze.
Infrastructure and Regional Expansion
The update also incorporates a new Aave market based on Optimism, a migration from the previous network on Scroll. On and off-ramps supporting more than 30 currencies and methods are added, including Apple Pay and Cash App. Additionally, the protocol now offers a 3% cashback on all purchases made with the card, with zero top-up fees and zero foreign exchange fees at higher membership tiers.
Some features, such as tokenized stock trading, are inaccessible in the United States and other markets due to regulatory restrictions.
