Deribit received a Broker-Dealer licence from Dubai’s Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority, expanding its regulated operating scope in the emirate. The approval allows Deribit to deepen spot-market activity within a formal Dubai regulatory framework, complementing its established derivatives business.

The licence supports Deribit’s broader integration with Coinbase following Coinbase’s acquisition of the platform. Coinbase said the regulated setup will help connect Deribit’s institutional client base with spot-market infrastructure, placing spot and derivatives access inside a more unified trading ecosystem while maintaining the permissions required by VARA.

Deribit will continue operating under Dubai’s virtual-asset regime as the companies expand product connectivity and market access. The next test is whether regulatory clarity and Coinbase-linked infrastructure translate into stronger spot liquidity and cross-product adoption without diluting Deribit’s core derivatives franchise.
