BTCPay Server said that friends and supporters of the project committed to fund a recovery bounty after Bitcoin was stolen from merchants through a recently exploited vulnerability. The offer pays 10% of successfully recovered funds, capped at 3 BTC, making asset recovery the immediate priority after the security incident.
We're donating 0.21 BTC to @craigraw and 0.21 BTC to the Bitcoin Red Team for their responsible security disclosure of the recent critical vulnerability.

The bounty is open to anyone who provides information leading to the return of funds, including the attacker. BTCPay also said it is donating 0.21 BTC each to security researcher Craig Raw and the Bitcoin Red Team for responsibly disclosing the critical vulnerability, placing recovery incentives alongside rewards for responsible security research.
BTCPay has been working with exchanges, blockchain analytics firms and law enforcement to trace the stolen Bitcoin. The project has not publicly disclosed the total amount lost, leaving the full financial impact unresolved. The next test is whether the 10% bounty can turn tracing efforts into recovered merchant funds while affected operators continue strengthening their security.
