Zeus Wallet shut down its infrastructure after detecting a cybersecurity incident and is currently auditing its systems before restoring services.
Evan Kaloudis, founder of the self-custody wallet for Bitcoin’s Lightning Network, confirmed that the attack did not compromise any user funds and that no evidence was found that the incident affected Lightning node software. “Based on our investigation so far, we believe this incident was limited to Zeus’s infrastructure,” Kaloudis stated in an official post.
ZEUS infrastructure is temporarily offline following a cybersecurity incident.
The attack has been mitigated. We are keeping services offline while we conduct a comprehensive audit of all systems before restoring operations.
**Customer funds were neither lost or at risk.**

According to the founder, the Zeus team managed to mitigate the attack within a matter of hours. Users whose channels with the Lightning service provider were closed during the incident will receive replacement channels once services resume. The company did not disclose the nature of the attack or offer a timeline for the restoration of operations, though it noted that the episode reinforces its work on trusted execution environments and the Validating Lightning Signer project to strengthen its infrastructure.
The incident occurred just days after Zeus announced the deactivation of its swaps, in response to the decision by Boltz —a non-custodial Bitcoin exchange service— to suspend its platform with no defined return date.
