Korbit said that Mirae Asset Consulting, an affiliate of Mirae Asset Financial Group, acquired its shares after completing required regulatory reporting procedures and became the exchange’s largest shareholder. The transaction gives Mirae a 97.15% stake, placing control of one of South Korea’s longest-running crypto exchanges inside a major financial group.

The ownership change does not alter Korbit Co., Ltd., the legal entity operating the exchange, and Korbit said its services, deposits and withdrawals will continue without interruption. Customer assets also remain separately managed under South Korea’s Virtual Asset User Protection Act, making operational continuity central to the post-acquisition message.

The next phase is how Mirae Asset Consulting uses its controlling position while Korbit preserves exchange operations and regulatory compliance. The acquisition closes the ownership transition, but product integration and strategic direction remain to be detailed, leaving execution under new control as the key follow-up after clearance.
