South Korean payment giant NHN KCP has just launched a stablecoin payment pilot program powered by Avalanche infrastructure. Developed in collaboration with Ava Labs via an optimized Layer 1 network, this proof-of-concept already allows hundreds of employees to complete commercial transactions both online and offline. During internal testing, processing via QR codes was successfully completed in a record time of less than two seconds.

This milestone consolidates Avalanche’s expansion in the Asian market, where it already backs tokenized asset settlements for major firms in Japan, Singapore, and Thailand. For South Korea, a country where cash usage is nearly non-existent, integrating these assets into popular platforms like Payco represents a critical step toward economic digitalization. The initiative aims to radically optimize operational efficiency and reduce costs for merchants.

Looking ahead, NHN KCP will gather data from this pilot to discuss mass commercialization alongside large corporations and financial institutions. The next key step will depend on local regulatory developments surrounding the Digital Asset Basic Act, while the company has already secured trademarks for its own won-pegged and USD-pegged stablecoins.
