KuCoin announced the launch of the second edition of its initiative “Anti-Phishing Month”, a campaign aimed at strengthening the protection of its users against the growing volume of phishing attacks affecting the crypto industry.
The initiative, which received a positive reception at its debut the previous year, returns in May 2026, leveraging a cybersecurity awareness calendar that includes World Information Security Day, World Password Day and initiatives from the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
In recent years, the platform identified a steady increase in phishing attacks targeting its users, with a considerable concentration in certain regions. Smishing —SMS phishing— and email phishing account for more than 90% of recorded incidents. These attacks generate direct financial losses and erode user trust over the long term.
KuCoin: Technology, Education and Incentives Against Phishing
Under its “security as a service” philosophy, KuCoin deployed a phishing detection engine capable of identifying and blocking suspicious login attempts and unauthorized withdrawal activity. The system intercepts more than 5,000 high-risk access attempts per day. Additionally, for critical actions such as logins, withdrawals and API linking, the platform integrates multi-factor authentication and real-time risk alerts. A built-in “Security Score” module allows users to continuously assess and improve their account protection practices.
Edwin Wong, Head of Risk Management at KuCoin, noted that “relying solely on technical safeguards is no longer enough” and that the campaign’s goal is to turn security into a daily habit that users can understand and actively practice.
The central component of the campaign is the Learn-to-Earn format, which invites users to complete anti-phishing education modules, answer a brief quiz and activate additional protection features such as anti-phishing codes. Those who complete the program will receive exclusive rewards.
