Blockchain infrastructure provider Alchemy launched AgentPay, a new tool designed to solve one of the most pressing problems in agentic finance: the lack of interoperability between AI-powered payment systems that different companies are bringing to market.
The agentic payment systems currently entering the market, developed by companies such as Coinbase, Stripe, Visa, Mastercard and Circle, do not communicate with each other. That forces any merchant who wants to accept payments from AI agents to build a separate integration for each protocol — a task that becomes unsustainable as more systems join the ecosystem.

Alchemy Operates as a Translation Layer
Guillaume Poncin, Chief Technology Officer at Alchemy, explained how the new system works: “AgentPay solves it. A merchant registers their existing API with us, we give them a new endpoint, and any agent on any compatible protocol can pay them through it.” Poncin also emphasized that the company operates exclusively as a translation and instruction-routing layer and does not intervene with funds at any point.
AgentPay is compatible with the main protocols present in the agentic payments ecosystem: x402, MPP, A2P and L402. The core proposition is a single integration to operate across all of them in a seamless and straightforward way. AI agent-based finance is expanding rapidly and emerging as a potential pillar of payments on the internet. This model encompasses microtransactions and nanopayments that can be executed between AI agents with minimal or no human intervention in the process.
Alchemy is recognized in the industry as the “AWS of Web3” for its role as a provider of infrastructure, developer tools and node services used by multiple blockchains and companies in the space. For now, AgentPay launched in a private beta phase, with the general-access version scheduled for the coming weeks.
