During the Linux Foundation Member Summit, Circle, the issuer of the USDC stablecoin, announced its incorporation into the Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF). David Nalley, the newly appointed governing board chair, reported that the addition of Circle, along with 96 other new members, reinforces the mission to create open protocols and standardized tools so that artificial intelligence agents can operate interoperably within the digital economy.

This alliance carries a strategic impact for the financial sector, as Circle seeks to integrate its “agentic wallets” services with AAIF standards. By enabling autonomous systems to perform native payments with USDC, friction in machine-to-machine transactions is eliminated. The rapid growth of the foundation, which now boasts 146 members, reflects industrial demand for neutral governance that prevents technological silos in the deployment of productive AI.

The launch of the first open-source technical standards, which will facilitate the execution of smart contracts by AI agents, will be a key topic among investors in the coming weeks. It will be essential to monitor how this standardized infrastructure accelerates the mass adoption of autonomous payments and whether other major crypto-asset firms decide to follow in Circle’s footsteps to avoid being left out of the new global operating ecosystem.
