Jupiter DAO opened a vote that will end on February 22, 2026, to decide on canceling the Jupuary airdrops and adopting zero net emissions for JUP. The proposal aims to alter the emission schedule and reduce token dilution under adverse market conditions.
The JUP token trades near $0.16, close to its all-time low. Speculation over zero emissions pushed JUP to a one-week local high, although it has remained in a low range for months. The token serves as an alignment engine between the team, holders, stakers, and the community.
The vote offers two options. The first keeps Jupuary, with a 200 million JUP airdrop after the vote and the continuation of bonus pools and Jupnet incentives. The second establishes zero net emissions, cancels Jupuary, returns 700 million prepared tokens to the Community Cold Multisig wallet, and stops team emissions indefinitely, accelerating Mercurial vesting and buying back tokens to absorb sell pressure.
The changes will affect the scheduled unlocks and could impact the JUP price. Community airdrops have been a key incentive, and without Jupuary, rewards would be lower, reducing on-chain participation. Jupiter generates $839 million in annualized fees.
