A crypto investor and his family were tied up and beaten at their home in Verneuil-sur-Seine, in the Yvelines, after three men carrying a handgun forced their way in on the evening of Jan. 10, Le Parisien reported on Jan. 11.
Police were alerted around 8 p.m. after the family managed to break free and take refuge with neighbors. Le Parisien said the assailants repeatedly struck the parents, then restrained the couple and their two children with zip ties, before fleeing toward the train station. Investigators view the victim as a non-random target: the father leads a group specializing in cryptocurrency-linked investments, a profile the paper says has been increasingly targeted by organized-crime crews.
The judicial police are actively searching for the suspects and working to lock down the remaining facts. Le Parisien referenced a December case in Charente-Maritime where attackers allegedly forced a crypto transfer of nearly ā¬8 million after hours of violence, signaling what authorities may be trying to prevent from repeating.
