CNN formed a partnership with the prediction market platform Kalshi to integrate real-time data on the probabilities of political, economic, and cultural events into its coverage. The data streams will be incorporated into graphics, live tickers, and editorial tools, led by Harry Enten, the network’s Chief Data Analyst.
The partnership will allow uncertainty to be measured more dynamically, complementing traditional polls and analyses, while viewers will be able to follow market probabilities directly on screen. The integration strengthens CNN’s ability to contextualize fast-moving news and adjust coverage during debates, policy announcements, or economic data releases.
Kalshi recently closed a $1 billion Series E funding round, reaching an $11 billion valuation, and posted record trading volumes of $4.54 billion in November. The company also launched tokenized predictions on the Solana network and was integrated into Google Finance, consolidating its growth and presence in prediction markets.
A recent court ruling limited federal regulation over Kalshi’s sports contracts, stating they are not subject to the CFTC, which poses regulatory challenges as the company expands its services. The partnership positions CNN as the first major U.S. news outlet to use real-time market predictions to enhance its news coverage.
