Hyperliquid confirmed today that its wallets suffered a major hack, resulting in over $21 million in crypto assets being stolen, according to blockchain security firm PeckShieldAlert. The breach occurred earlier this week, exploiting leaked private keys.
The attacker accessed one of Hyperliquidās wallets and transferred 17.5 million DAI and 3.11 million SYRUPUSDP, then rapidly bridged the assets across multiple chains. This complex movement makes tracing and recovery challenging. PeckShieldAlert noted that portions of the funds are now scattered across different Ethereum addresses, where they may soon be swapped or laundered further. The precision of the attack indicates it was not a typical smart contract exploit but a direct private key compromise, possibly from phishing or malware.
Hyperliquid has urged all users to remain vigilant, monitor wallet activity, and store keys offline. Investigators continue to track the stolen assets, and updates are expected as the case develops.
