Splinterlands announced the release of Conclave Arcana, its sixth core card set for the Web3 collectible card game.
The expansion will introduce 78 new Soulbound cards that can only be obtained through reward chests in the Ranked Rewards system. They cannot be bought, sold, or traded. This design aims to drive player interest in improving their decks and follows the same logic as previous reward sets.
The Story Behind the New Splinterlands Set
The new Splinterlands set is built around a narrative focused on sorcerers attempting to recover magical artifacts after the destruction of a barrier known as the Veil. This theme is reflected in the card design, which includes abilities geared toward slower and more controlled strategies, in contrast to more aggressive styles. This expansion also introduces a new ability called Stun Immunity, which prevents affected cards from being stunned during combat.
Each card in Conclave Arcana belongs to one of the game’s six main Splinters and was created by community teams who won the Genesis League Goals contest. This setup gives the community a direct role in content creation, involving players in the creative decision-making process of development. It has also been confirmed that this will be the last Soulbound reward set before players will be able to unlock, trade, and sell these types of cards within the game.
The Community’s Role and the End of the Soulbound System
The development team also stated that previous reward cards will remain available until certain print thresholds are reached. However, Splinterlands will progressively phase out the previous set over the coming weeks, and the new one is expected to remain active for approximately 12 to 15 months.
The launch of this new set is part of broader structural adjustments within the ecosystem following the separation between Splinterlands and the Genesis League esports and tournament platform. With this release, the game aims to strengthen its internal reward system and continue integrating community-designed content, while maintaining a focus on competitiveness.
