Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonymous inventor of Bitcoin and blockchain technology has bagged a ranking among some of the most influential and wealthy individuals in finance. Worth.com’s list of 2018 most influential and powerful individuals in Finance is out this week and Satoshi’s faceless icon is listed on the 44th position right next to Haruhiko Kuroda, the governor to the Bank of Japan.
Other notable figures on the list include President Donald Trump – the US President who came in first, Russia President – Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping who were ranked second and third respectively.
Satoshi beat out other financial heavyweights such as Facebook Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg, American political figureheads Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders, Jim Yong Kim – the World Bank President, Andrew Cuomo – the Governor of New York and Tony Robbins – the life coach.
Notable figures on the list from the cryptocurrency space include Satoshi, Kelly Loeffler – the CEO to the soon-to-be-launched Bakkt Bitcoin futures trading platform who was ranked at position 72 and Blythe Masters – the former CEO of Digital Asset Holdings.
Satoshi Nakamoto submitted the Bitcoin whitepaper to a cryptography mailing list back in 2008 announcing his idea seeking support to code the protocol. A few months later he launched the Bitcoin blockchain on January 3rd, 2009.
Satoshi participated in the online forums promoting his novel idea to other cryptocurrency enthusiasts until 2011 when he vanished from the internet never to be heard from again. However, before he exited the online world his Bitcoin wallet had immersed close to a million bitcoins.
