Zano Rolls Back One Month After Token Mint Exploit

Zano rolls back its blockchain to block 3,833,000 after a Gateway Addresses exploit created unauthorized ZANO and Freedom Dollar tokens.

Zano said its network was restarted from block 3,833,000 after a vulnerability in Gateway Addresses allowed unauthorized ZANO and Freedom Dollar tokens to enter circulation. The recovery point sits immediately before Hard Fork 6, meaning about one month of subsequent blockchain history is excluded as participants adopt the new software, with the team saying the move restores the intended token supply.

The rollback also removes legitimate transactions recorded during the affected period, while transfers already settled on other blockchains cannot be reversed. Zano said ordinary wallet spend keys and transaction privacy were not compromised, but all nodes, miners, stakers, exchanges and service providers must update to version 2.2.3.600 to follow the recovered chain.

Zano said Gateway Addresses will remain offline while the team completes a technical review and prepares a full report on the exploit. The project is also working with affected parties on reimbursement, with compensation expected to come from development funds, team holdings and supporting large holders rather than newly minted ZANO.
