Uniswap DAO is voting on a Snapshot proposal to recall 12.5 million UNI currently delegated through the Franchiser system and return the tokens to the Governance Timelock. The proposal targets UNI delegated to the Uniswap Foundation and several active delegates, arguing the original bootstrap need has faded.

The vote matters because those delegations were made in 2022 and 2023, when governance participation was lower and quorum risk was a more pressing concern. The proposal says Uniswap governance now looks different, with stronger delegation, higher turnout after DUNI, and more than 50 delegates holding over 1 million UNI in voting power.

The next point to watch is whether the Snapshot process clears the way for an on-chain vote. If approved, the plan would use a single recallMany transaction to undelegate the UNI and move governance back toward a more organic distribution of voting power.
