ThunderCore said that it has begun preparing for potential quantum-computing threats through a four-phase roadmap covering research, infrastructure, migration and a possible full transition. The plan treats quantum readiness as a long-term engineering program, with signature protection identified as the core blockchain risk rather than an immediate threat to user assets.

Phase one focuses on NIST-approved standards, account abstraction, BLS-signature exposure and the storage impact of larger post-quantum signatures. Later phases would explore PQC precompiles, quantum-safe smart-contract wallets, hybrid ECDSA-PQC signatures and parallel post-quantum consensus testnets, while flexibility remains central because the technical standards are still maturing.

ThunderCore said the phases are directional and do not represent a fixed calendar or binding commitments. A full transition could eventually include native PQC signature validation and reduced reliance on vulnerable public-key cryptography, but dormant accounts and exposed public keys remain unresolved, making community governance and production testing critical before any protocol-wide migration.
