Standard Chartered Bank (Singapore) said on October 8 that it plans to offer custody services for selected cryptoassets, stablecoins and tokenized real-world assets to institutional and accredited investor corporate clients, subject to applicable regulatory requirements. The move would bring bank-grade safekeeping to tokenized real-world assets, with Singapore becoming another market in the group’s expanding digital asset custody footprint.

The planned service will complement Standard Chartered’s Financing & Securities Services business, combining traditional asset servicing, tokenization and digital asset custody within one institutional framework. The bank said the model is designed to support clients across a broader asset lifecycle, from safeguarding conventional assets to tokenizing and holding digital assets, while responding to growing institutional demand for regulated custody infrastructure.

Standard Chartered already has digital asset custody capabilities across markets including the UAE, Luxembourg and Hong Kong, making Singapore part of a wider international expansion strategy. The next milestone will be the service’s regulatory clearance and commercial rollout in Singapore, since the bank has announced its intention to launch the offering but has not presented it as already available to clients.
