The Bank of Russia approved the public trading of Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Tether (USDT) on regulated domestic financial platforms. Starting November 17, this measure will take effect, allowing Russian citizens to trade these digital assets through authorized intermediaries and subject to an annual limit of 300,000 rubles (approximately $3,700) per entity, upon passing a mandatory preliminary risk assessment.

This measure marks a strategic turnaround for the Russian financial market by formalizing an official, supervised channel for leading cryptocurrencies and stablecoins amid international economic pressure. By integrating structured liquidity into national exchanges such as the Moscow Exchange, authorities aim to curb the informal market, protect retail participants, and establish official settlement mechanisms.

The next phase will take shape in late November and throughout December with the official listing and technical rollout of trading operations across authorized Russian platforms.
