The U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) granted conditional approval to the global neobank Revolut to establish a national bank. The confirmation, announced by the fintech and backed by its founder Nik Storonsky, represents the first formal federal endorsement to advance the creation of “Revolut Bank US”, an entity through which it aims to offer insured deposits, loans, and the integration of cryptocurrencies and stablecoins.

This regulatory milestone consolidates the gradual opening of U.S. regulators toward hybrid fintech models with digital assets. By operating under its own federal banking supervision rather than relying exclusively on partner entities, the company seeks to strengthen its offering of crypto services and institutional payments, joining the recent trend of institutions such as Circle that have secured the green light from the OCC to expand tokenized financial infrastructures across the country.

To launch commercial operations toward its target timeline set for 2027, Revolut’s next steps consist of securing regulatory approvals from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and the Federal Reserve, alongside final definitive authorization from the OCC.
