The Litecoin Foundation, a Singapore-based non-profit organization non-profit that advocates and promotes the use of Litecoin, has announced a partnership with a New York-based video gaming giant Atari. This partnership will add Litecoin as a method of payment the Atari ecosystem.
The Litecoin Foundation made in a press release published on its website on Wednesday, May 20. According to the announcement, Litecoin will interact with Atari ecosystem in many ways.
Atari is also going to launch its own digital asset which will act in much the same way as a casino chip for their platforms. the Atari is expected to be launched by September of 2020. In a separate announcement, Atari explained that Litecoin will be used as mean of investment for Atari token.
Further details states that the much-anticipated new Atari VCS game console will be purchasable with Litecoin for a discounted price and can be pre-ordered via Atari’s website.
Charlie Lee, Managing Director of the Litecoin Foundation, commented:
“Many of us remember growing up and playing games from Atari. It is great to see Litecoin being used in a variety of different ways within the Atari ecosystem, from purchasing the new Atari VCS gaming console to being used as a way to invest in Atari Tokens. The Litecoin Foundation is excited to see the possibilities a partnership like this can have for not only Litecoin and cryptocurrencies but also the gaming industry and lifelong fans of Atari.”
In future, other potential ventures, such as joint merchandising is also expected. Lee added:
“We are definitely going to talk in the future about other ways we can work together. Like using LTC in game maybe. We will like do some joint merchandising like t shirts with Litecoin and Atari on them.”
Atari, based in New York, is one of most recognisable names in the video gaming industry. At the moment, the company currently maintains a portfolio of more than 200 games and franchises.
The company has recently created a new subsidiary, Atari Chain, to lead the developments in cryptocurrencies and other entrainment-based projects. The Atari Chain will also issue the Atari token.
