TL;DR

  • MakerDAO, a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO), is set to undergo a significant transformation with its “Endgame” plan. This plan aims to enhance scalability, resilience, and sustainable user growth on the platform.
  • The plan introduces new tokens and scales its Dai stablecoin to boost market competitiveness. It also paves the way for sustainable yield farming of SubDAO tokens and reorganizes the existing decentralized workforce ecosystem into new self-sustainable DAOs, known as SubDAOs.
  • The Endgame plan, which is currently under active development and slated for launch in the summer of 2024, represents the most substantial restructuring of MakerDAO since the dissolution of the Maker Foundation in June 2021.

MakerDAO, a pioneering decentralized autonomous organization (DAO), is poised for a significant transformation with the unveiling of its ambitious “Endgame” plan. This initiative is designed to bolster scalability, resilience, and sustainable user growth on the platform.

The Endgame plan proposes a comprehensive revamp of the governance and tokenomics of the Maker Ecosystem. The ultimate goal is to guide the ecosystem toward a self-sustainable equilibrium, termed the “Endgame State”. In this state, the ecosystem will be resilient, and the scope and complexity of Maker Core will remain constant.

A key aspect of the plan is the introduction of new tokens and the scaling of its Dai stablecoin to enhance market competitiveness. The strategy encompasses rebranding, token introduction, and Dai stablecoin scaling.

The plan also paves the way for sustainable yield farming of SubDAO tokens. It envisages the reorganization of the existing decentralized workforce ecosystem into new self-sustainable DAOs, known as SubDAOs. Each SubDAO will possess its unique governance token, governance processes, workforce, and interfaces, thereby simplifying Maker Core and enhancing its resilience.

The Endgame plan also heralds the introduction of the Maker Atlas, which delineates the core scope of Maker Governance. The Atlas is designed to be as immutable as possible, ensuring long-term transparency about MakerDAO’s purpose.

Rune Christensen, the co-founder of Maker, introduced the plan. Following initial discussions, Maker Governance ratified the MIP set endorsing this plan on 24 October 2022. The Endgame plan is currently under active development, spearheaded by Rune Christensen.

The launch of the Endgame plan signifies the most substantial restructuring of MakerDAO since the dissolution of the Maker Foundation in June 2021. It represents a strategic transition to Ecosystem Actors and SubDAOs, supplanting traditional core units. These actors, guided by Scope Alignment Artifacts, undertake essential tasks across various domains.

The plan is slated for launch in the summer of 2024. It is anticipated to revolutionize MakerDAO, enhance growth, resilience, and accessibility, and scale the supply of the DAI stablecoin to 100 billion and beyond.
