TL;DR:

  • Litecoin climbed to its highest level since January, outperforming Bitcoin and major altcoins as onchain activity and derivatives interest strengthened.
  • More than $1 billion in Adjusted Economic Value moved across Litecoin in 24 hours, while over 17 million LTC changed hands across the network.
  • LTC gained about 37% in September, broke resistance near $60.60 and formed a golden cross, while traders also watched the 2027 halving narrative for further momentum.

Litecoin outperformed the broader crypto market on Thursday as rising onchain activity coincided with a rally. CoinMarketCap showed LTC near $65.96, up more than 6% over 24 hours, while the reference data placed the token near $66 and at its highest level since January. Litecoin’s relative strength stood out as Bitcoin and several altcoins moved lower, drawing attention back to the network’s underlying usage and the discussion around Litecoin network activity.

Network Usage Strengthens Litecoin’s Market Narrative

The Litecoin Foundation highlighted more than $1 billion in Adjusted Economic Value moving across the network during 24 hours, representing over 17 million LTC. Adjusted Economic Value attempts to isolate meaningful payments by excluding coins returned to senders as transaction change. The reading suggests Litecoin’s latest price strength is developing alongside substantial economic activity rather than purely speculative trading. The figure remained below the year’s $2.51 billion daily peak recorded in May, but it reinforced Litecoin’s long-running payment-focused use case as markets reassessed the token.

Litecoin climbed to its highest level since January

Price action has strengthened alongside those network figures. LTC gained roughly 37% during September, putting it on course for its strongest monthly performance since November 2024. The daily chart also produced a golden cross as the 50-day moving average moved above the 200-day average, while price broke through resistance around $60.60. The combination of network activity and improving technical structure has given traders multiple reasons to revisit Litecoin during a weak broader session. That renewed attention follows earlier periods when Litecoin’s active-address activity became a key measure of usage.

Another potential narrative is Litecoin’s next block-reward halving, expected in July 2027. The event will reduce mining rewards from 6.25 LTC to 3.125 LTC per block, continuing the network’s four-year issuance schedule. Historical halving patterns may be contributing to expectations, but the current move cannot be reduced to a single catalyst. For now, fresh capital is also returning to Litecoin-linked derivatives, adding another layer to the rally and potentially increasing sensitivity to sudden reversals.

Litecoin’s strength therefore contrasts sharply with a market pressured by rising bond yields and weaker major cryptocurrencies. The immediate test is whether network demand can remain elevated enough to support the breakout after the initial surge. The move also puts attention back on Litecoin’s underlying resilience after previous technical challenges around network security and MWEB.
