The new version of Cardano’s Daedalus wallet is released. The latest version is 3.3.0. The most significant upgrade is the support for the upcoming Cardano hardfork. Many new features are released with the latest Daedalus version.
IOHK believes the newest version will be a significant milestone toward future changes in the Cardano blockchain. Some bugs are fixed in the newest version, too, and Daedalus is becoming ready to be the first choice for ADA holders.
New Features and Bug Fixes
Primary wallets are essential components in blockchain networks. They’re often the first choice for fans of a blockchain for holding and managing the primary token. Supporting teams in various blockchains always try to offer the best experience in these wallets. Daedalus is the primary wallet for Cardano community members that IOHK supports its development and upgrades. The latest version of this wallet consists of some new features as well as support for the upcoming upgrades in the network.
According to the release note from IOHK, Daedalus 3.3.0 includes numerous new features, including:
“Project Catalyst Fund3 voting registration, displaying wallet balance converted to fiat or cryptocurrency of your choice, configurable SMASH servers, transaction details expanded to include metadata, fee processing, ADA deposits, importing wallets from ‘secret.key’ files of old Daedalus versions, and support for Ledger devices configured with a secondary PIN.”
Catalyst Fund3 voting registration is one of the essential upgrades in Daedalus 3.3.0. Project Catalyst focuses on bringing on-chain governance to Cardano, and supporting its voting system in Daedalus means Cardano is seriously on the path toward that change. ADA holders will be able to vote for/against proposals for Cardano to upgrade and improve the blockchain. The new coting system comes with rewards to incentivize ADA hodlers. IOHK claims that $70,000 worth of ADA will be distributed to voters. Registering to vote for Fund3 coting in Project Catalyst is now accessible for Daedalus 3.3.0 users.
Another new feature in Daedalus 3.3.0 is displaying the ADA balance in multiple converted currencies. ADA holders can now see their credit in other fiat or cryptocurrencies. CoinGecko provides the conversion service in Daedalus in a partnership with IOHK.
IOHK has improved the support for hardware wallets in Daedalus v3.3.0. According to the press release:
“Ledger hardware wallet devices that are configured with a secondary PIN can now be used with Daedalus. These Ledger devices provide two sets of wallets associated with the same wallet recovery phrase. To improve security and reliability, Daedalus now also fetches a public key from Ledger and Trezor hardware wallet devices on each interaction with the hardware wallet device.”
