Dallas Mavericks Shop, the official merchandise and fan shop of American professional basketball team Dallas Mavericks, now accepts Dogecoin (DOGE) as payments through a partnership with cryptocurrency payment service BitPay.
According to the announcement, on Thursday, March 4, Bitpay announced the rollout of Dogecoin (DOGE) payments for merchants and consumers and Dallas Mavericks Shop has become the first merchant to accept DOGE as payments. With this addition, Mavs Fans for Life (MFFLs) can now use Dogecoin to buy tickets and merchandise online.
But DOGE is not the only crypto asset that is accepted as payments as Dallas Mavericks Shop. The shop has also been accepting Bitcoin as a method of payment for game tickets and merchandise for almost two years. The Mavs BitPay to process all cryptocurrency purchases including tickets and merchandise with all top cryptocurrencies including BTC, BCH, ETH, USDC, GUSD, PAX, and BUSD.
According to Dallas Mavericks, accepting cryptocurrencies as payment helps businesses to expand to international markets as accepting credit card payments is not practical everywhere due to jurisdictions and high transaction fees. Crypto payments increase payment transparency and efficiency while reducing high fees. “The potential global market is huge and combined with the market capitalization for crypto approaching a trillion, the market opportunity for crypto is ideal,” said Dallas Mavericks.

It is the second good for meme coin this week. On Tuesday, March 2nd, ATM provider CoinFlip announced DOGE can now be purchased with cash across its 1,800-machine network. With support from Tesla CEO Elon Musk, DOGE has risen 1000% from the start of the year to date and occasionally surpassed Bitcoin as the most mentioned cryptocurrency on Twitter.
