The platform is built with the Move programming language, which was initially developed by Facebook for its Diem blockchain . Sui aims to create a decentralized, permissionless blockchain network that can support a wide range of use cases, from decentralized finance (DeFi) to non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The project is developed by Mysten Labs, a blockchain development firm co-founded by former Facebook developer Libra and JP Morgan alumni . The native token of the Sui blockchain is called SUI.
